What you agree to
By creating an account or using hilo.fans you agree to these terms, the Privacy policy, the Cookie policy and the Community guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
The service is provided by Redder Labs (“hilo.fans”, “we”).
Minimum age
- Fans: you must be at least 16 years old.
- Creators who earn money: you must be at least 18 and pass the payment provider's identity verification.
- If you are 16 or 17, you need permission from a parent or legal guardian to make payments.
- Because some users are minors, sexually explicit content is not allowed.
Your account: alias, password and recovery key
You sign up with an alias and a password. We do not ask for an email or your real name to use the network as a fan.
Accounts use zero-knowledge authentication: your password never leaves your device and we never know it. Private content is encrypted on your device before it is sent, and we cannot read it.
- When you sign up you receive a recovery key. It is the only way to recover your account if you forget your password.
- If you lose both your password and your recovery key, we cannot restore your access or decrypt your private content.
- You are responsible for keeping your password and key secret.
- Your alias may not impersonate another person, brand or organisation, or mislead others about who you are.
Hilos and contributions
A creator starts a hilo and fans carry it on with contributions, shown as stops on the creator's line. The creator decides which contributions join the hilo and can close it at any time.
hilo.fans does not allow challenges or dares: nothing rewards doing something risky, and we remove that kind of content.
Fares and fees
- Single fare: a payment to add a contribution to a hilo. The creator sets the price between €0.50 and €5 (€1 by default).
- Tip: voluntary support for a contribution or a hilo, from €1.
- Monthly pass: a subscription to a creator's line, between €3 and €50 a month (€5 by default), with access to their private hilos. It renews every month until you cancel; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period.
- hilo.fans keeps a 10% fee on every fare, tip and pass. The creator receives the remaining 90%, before taxes. Payment processing costs: split equally between the creator and Redder Labs.
- Founding creators: anyone who opens a creator line pays a 5% fee for their first 12 months of earning.
hilo card and balance
- Fans can top up their hilo card with €5, €10 or €25 and pay fares and tips from the balance.
- The balance can only be spent on hilo.fans and earns no interest.
- Refunds of unused balance: request it from your profile.
- Prices are shown in euros for reference. Accepted currencies: the euro and the other legal tender currencies Stripe supports.
Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have 14 days to withdraw from distance purchases. Fares, tips and passes give immediate access to digital content or services: before you pay, we will ask for your express consent to start straight away and your acknowledgement that you lose the right of withdrawal.
Creator payouts
- To get paid you must verify your identity with Stripe Payments Europe, Limited (Irlanda). This is a legal requirement for anti-money-laundering and tax reporting, such as the DAC7 Directive in the European Union.
- Payout frequency and minimum: monthly, on the creator's request, once their Stripe payout account is verified.
- You are responsible for declaring and paying taxes on your income.
- We may hold payouts linked to fraud, chargebacks or breaches of these terms while we investigate.
Your content
What you publish stays yours. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it on hilo.fans while it is published.
When you contribute to a hilo, you also allow that hilo's creator to show your contribution as part of the hilo. If you delete your contribution, it stops being shown, except for temporary technical copies.
You confirm that you have the right to publish what you upload and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
Prohibited content and conduct
- Illegal content or content that incites crime.
- Challenges, dares or encouraging behaviour that is dangerous to yourself or others.
- Sexually explicit content and any sexualisation of minors.
- Harassment, threats, hate speech or sharing other people's personal data.
- Impersonation, fraud, spam or payment manipulation.
- Content that infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights.
- Attempts to break the security or encryption of the service.
Moderation, notices and appeals
Anyone can notify us of illegal content or content that breaks these terms. We review notices and, if we remove content or restrict an account, we explain why and how to appeal.
Private content is encrypted and we cannot review it on our own. When someone reports private content, the report includes a decrypted copy that person sends us voluntarily.
You can appeal a decision for 6 months through [email protected] and, in the European Union, turn to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body.
Suspension and account deletion
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, with notice unless the law or other people's safety prevents it. A creator's legitimate pending earnings will be paid under the payouts section.
Liability
We provide the service with due care but do not guarantee it will run without interruption. We are not liable for content published by users, unless we fail to act promptly once we know it is illegal. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
If we make material changes to these terms, we will tell you in the service at least 30 days in advance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring claims before its courts.
